If privacy and security is on top in your priority features list, you will really want to have a fingerprint scanner in your Smartphone. Top Smartphone manufacturers are now more aware than ever of what their customers want and understanding that security is one of the top-most concern as all personal data is in the smartphone, they have started offering a fingerprint sensor in some of their Smartphones. Motorola is the first company to offer this facility in its flagship Smartphone. In 2011, among Android phones, Atrix became the standard-bearer by getting this feature.

Apple followed Motorola adding a fingerprint reader in its Flagship phone iPhone 5s in 2013 and naming it as Touch ID. Soon HTC joined this club by launching One Max  just one month after the release of iPhone 5S. Although, touch ID got praise and HTC failed to deliver a reliable and accurate scanner. Samsung had been silent regarding fingerprint sensor technology as it had not added this feature in its Flagship devices like Note 3 and Galaxy S4. Smartphone world was expecting Samsung, Sony and LG to deliver this feature in their high-end devices but things didn’t change in 2013 as far as the aforesaid companies and fingerprint sensor were concerned.

In April  2014, Samsung finally launched a phone that boasted fingerprint sensor and that was Galaxy S5. Galaxy S5 featured a fingerprint sensor that worked just like iPhone 5S touch ID as its fingerprint sensor was also located on front panel above the home button. But its method of working was different. To unlock the phone using touch ID, you need to put the finger on Home button, but to unlock the phone using Samsung fingerprint scanner you need to swipe the finger from top to bottom of the sensor.

When Touch ID and Samsung scanner were compared, experts found that touch ID was fairly more accurate than Samsung scanner and thus Samsung lost to Apple in fingerprint sensor technology.

Here we have listed all available Fingerprint reader enabled Smartphones.

For those who love Motorola and for those who love affordable but reliable and sturdy phones, Moto G Plus is a perfect and pristine choice. Compared to its predecessor Moto G 3rd Generation, Moto G4 Plus seems to be a big upgrade equipped with up to 4GB RAM,  larger screen, full HD display and a more powerful CPU. Although Motorola apparently seems to be trying to make newer devices slimmer than the previous ones, still Moto G Plus is thick enough with a thickness of 9.8mm. Coming to the device body, again Motorola restrained itself from metal body as the company used plastic for it.

Moto G Plus sports a 16MP rear camera with laser autofocus and a front facing camera with wide angle lens to capture group photos. It boasts a 3000mAh non-removable battery.

LG G5 is pretty different from its predecessor in terms of design like it lacks gorgeous back power and volume buttons. A  fingerprint scanner has occupied that area. G5, not unlike other latest flagship devices, is powered by the mightiest SoC, Snapdragon 820 and 4GB of RAM. Instead of offering memory variants LG simply has decided to go with a sole 32GB model but at the same time to appease bytes-hungry customers it also bears a dedicated up to 200GB expandable memory slot. Another astonishing and captivating feature of this device is its dual rear cameras, 16MP+8MP. Of these two cameras, the first is a normal camera having a 78-degree angle lens, but the second 8MP camera features a 135-degree wide-angle lens. With this widest-angle to-date lens (in mobile phones), users can easily capture wider and taller area (a tall tree, building or a wider landscape scenery).

LG G5 has a 5.3 inches Quad-HD display, guarded by corning Gorilla glass 4.

As for battery, a 2800mAh battery seems to be insufficient seeing it has to power a Quad-HD display and a heavy SoC . In many battery benchmarking results, G5 no doubt has been way behind other latest flagship devices.

Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge

Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge look much similar to their predecessors S6 and S6 Edge+ in terms of design. However, as far as specifications are concerned, S7 series is a remarkably big upgrade. Both devices come packed with Snapdragon 820, Adreno 530 and 4GB of RAM. Galaxy S7 has a  5.1 inches QHD display, while S7 Edge has a larger 5.5 inches display at the same resolution. Both smartphones are IP68-certified water and dust resistant and are protected with Gorilla Glass 4 on either panel.

Samsung has been doing its best to wash off the stigma of poor design and its efforts in this regard seem to have taken a great leap forward with the launch of S6 Edge+, S7 and S7 Edge by implementing elegant and appealing metallic designs in these devices. Their designs are very ingenious and so head-turning and magnificently graceful that you may call them love-at-first-sight capable designs with S7 Edge having literally an edge over S7.

Fingerprint scanner is studded on the rear panel at home button of both devices.

Beware: Google has unveiled Nexus 5X And Nexus 6P that is equipped with all new Android version; Android 6 MarshMallow. As speculated these new Nexus phones sport a touch ID (named Nexus Imprint) on its rear just below the camera. Let it be known that Android 6 comes with in-built APIsupport for biometric fingerprint scanner.

Google gets LG to manufacture Nexus 5X and Huawei to craft Nexus 6P. Of the two phones, Nexus 6P looks more elegant, and it is made of metallic material. Nexus 5X seems to be a budget high-end device having an octa-core Snapdragon 802 (1.4 GHz + 1.8 GHz) CPU along with Adreno 418, 5.2 inches FHD display, 2GB RAM, 16/32GB internal memory, 12.3 MP camera (in addition to a 5MP front one) and a 2700 mAh battery. It will be up for sale from mid-october only for $488 (around).

On the other hand Nexus 6P is a phone with bigger display and more powerful core hardware and so is more expensive. It has 3GB RAM, Snapgragon 810 CPU (1.5 GHz + 2GHz), Adreno 430 GPU, 5.7 inches quad HD display, 12 MP primary and 8MP front camera and a powerful 3450 mAh battery. It will be available in three different memory versions; 32, 64, 128GB. It will also be available from mid-october

Expandable memory slot is not available in either device.

Meizu Pro 6, the successor of Meizu Pro 5, looks much like a iPhone 6S but we can say that Meizu puts a lot of efforts to make the design much better. It reduces bezels on front making it almost bezel less. However, Meizu fails to reduce space above and below the screen that could have been trimmed. Like other Meizu flagship phones, fingerprint scanner is located on home button.

Coming to processing things, Meizu Pro 6 boasts off a powerful MediatTek Helio X25 deca-core CPU coulpled with Mali T880 and 4GB of RAM. Helio X25 is a three clustered processor ( 2+4+4 CPU cores) that makes it extremly power efficient and fast. If you are looking for a super powerful but affordable phone for heavy usage or heavy gaming you can head to Meizu Pro 6.

5.2 inches Super AMOLED display protected with Corining Gorilla Glass 4, 21MP rear+ 5MP front cameras and fast charging, reversible USB connector are another salient features of this device. But we are wondering why Meizu Pro 6 comes with a only 2560mAh battery and have no expandable memory slot

After the success of its 2014 flagship Ascend Mate 7, Huawei has incorporated Biometric Touch ID in its apparently budget but premium Smartphone Honor 7. Like Mate 7, the sensor is located at the rear just below the camera. The device is powered by Huawei in-house built HiSilicon Kirin 935 Octa-core CPU (2.2 GHz quad-core and 1.5 GHz quad-core) that is accompanied by Mali-T628 GPU and 3GB of RAM. However, the world is expecting Malti-T760 in these newly launched high-end Huawei phones (Honor 7 and Mate S).

Coming to display, it has 5.2 inches Full HD LCD display, 20MP Primary and 8MP secondary camera. It’s Available in two different internal memory versions; 16 and 32GB. Woefully, you can’t run phone in dual SIM mode if you desire to install an SD-card (because MicroSD card uses the space allocated for SIM2. That’s an absolute irony.

It is the first Smartphone from Samsung that gets this sensor. Sensor is located on home button on front side  and we need to swipe our finger from top to bottom to unlock the phone. this sensor is not found to be so much user-friendly and it works only if finger is swiped accurately on the sensor and if your finger is slightly misplaced on the sensor it may not detect your fingerprint.

Samsung had been using Swipe to unlock method in its all phones before it launched Galaxy S6. Swipe to unlock method was criticized heavily and Samsung quickly replaced it with “touch and stay”-to-unlock method as in Ascend Mate 7, iPhone and MX4 Pro. Now in Galaxy S6, you need to put your finger on the home button to unlock the phone. Its scanner is fairly accurate and faster than that of all other previous Samsung fingerprint scanner enabled phones.

Having panned by critics, Samsung seems to have worked hard to improve its fingerprint sensor hardware and it has been successful to a great extent as Note 4 fingerprint reader is remarkably better than that of Galaxy S5. Note 4 users have reported that it is accurate over 95%.

Ascend Mate 7 has been the talk of the town since its release in September 2014. Huawei wowed the world with its amazing fingerprint reader that is highly accurate. Tech gurus find that it is the most accurate fingerprint reader to date. The important attraction of this sensor is that it is a 360 degree working fingerprint sensor – i.e you can put your finger on the sensor at any angle and it works. You need not to swipe your finger on the sensor, too. Just put your finger on sensor and the phone is unlocked. Other major standing-out advantage of Huawei sensor is that in addition to locking entire phone, you can also lock any individual app with your fingerprint.
